Bolton THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED "With regret, Bolton Triathlon Club (BTC) must announce the cancellation of the Rivington Triathlon following a decision by United Utilities (UU) to allow only one swimming event in 2009. This event will be Ironman UK (IMUK) in August. BTC have been told that IMUK were the preferred host because they would be better at communicating the dangers of unauthorised swimming in UUs reservoirs. Needless to say everyone at BTC is very disappointed with this decision considering the growth in stature and popularity of our event. Following communication with IMUK, BTC believe that they genuinely were unaware that their event would mean the end of the Rivington Triathlon. IMUK have promised to work with BTC. We anxiously await their proposals. BTC is now in the early stages of planning replacement events, so please return to our events page periodically to check for new events.
